Project Description

Hardt Electric completed a 128,000-SF phased renovation and expansion of online food-ordering giant GRUBHUB’s Chicago headquarters at the Burnham Center. The client, which specializes in online order processing for restaurants, had plans to add hundreds of employees to their Chicago-Loop HQ. In order to meet their demand for growth while maintaining their present operations, we had to complete this project in many phases. Due to the unique challenges presented by working in a 100+ year old building, many of the MEP systems for this project were design-built during the project. Foremen Mike Kefaloukos & Luis Velazquez and Project Managers Alex Sabatka & Rob Meegan were able to exceed all of the requests made by both Leopardo, the GC on the project, as well as GRUBHUB directly.
Project Highlights:
• 128,000-SF, five-floor renovation
• 1-Year duration
• Renovations to all existing areas including the 21st floor main lobby and work spaces
• All-new Break areas including televisions and game equipment
• All-new kitchen spaces for employees to prepare their own food onsite
• Relaxation nooks for employees to decompress and relax, or catch up on some work
• Themed conference rooms based on some of the foods GRUBHUB’s network of restaurants may serve
• GRUBHUB Express elevator serving only GRUBHUB floors within the building
